Pumpkin Parade 2009

Pumpkin Parade is one of the most unique college traditions in the country. This event has carried over from Randolph College's rich history as Randolph-Macon Woman's College (R-MWC) and remains popular with female and male students alike.

A week of festivities highlights the bonds between the senior and sophomore classes with gift-giving from secret sophomores.

"The actual parade takes place during Family Weekend. Seniors dress in their gowns and buttons and meet in front of Smith Hall to light their pumpkin; sophomores dress in all white and meet in front of Moore Steps. Seniors walk with their pumpkins to Moore and are greeted by their sister class. Both classes sing to one another. The President of the College also sings to the senior class (It's usually a song known to all, and it's usually sung very badly). Afterwards, everyone goes to Martin Science Building and pictures are taken. Celebrations usually go well into the night." - excerpted from RandolphWiki.net

The 2009 Pumpkin Parade was met with torrential downpours, forcing the event into Smith Hall.
